History

In 1994, John Wieland Homes began construction of single family houses in WoodCreek, a new community off Redwine Road at the southern edge of Peachtree City.  It was soon evident that WoodCreek would not be just another subdivision.  With lots of one to five acres and a commitment to maintaining green space, WoodCreek developed into as a quiet, verdant community with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.  Construction continued through 2000, when the last building lots were filled.

Today WoodCreek's 218 homes and outstanding recreational facilities form one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Atlanta's southern crescent.

Recreation

WoodCreek's neighborhood clubhouse and adjacent recreational facilities are the focal point for neighborhood activity.  In summer, many families find a refreshing oasis at the community pool.  With its waterslide and with lifeguards on duty, the pool is a popular gathering place for both families and swim team activities.  Players of all ages utilize the WoodCreek tennis courts throughout the year.  Casual games and organized teams fill the four lighted courts with constant tennis activity.  The onsite fitness center helps residents stay in shape.

Outstanding Schools

Most WoodCreek children attend the highly acclaimed Fayette County public schools, consistently ranked among the best in the state.  Both Peeples Elementary and Rising Starr Middle School have been recognized as top achieving schools, and Starr's Mill High School was named a 2005 Georgia School of Excellence.  All three schools earned statewide accountability awards for having the highest percentage of students meeting and exceeding achievement standards.

The Area

WoodCreek is located in unincorporated Fayette County, just outside the city limits of Peachtree City, Georgia.  Known as one of the most successful master-planned communities in America, Peachtree City was selected in 2005 by Money magazine as one of America's top 10 "best places to live".  Starting with more than 1,300 American cities, the editors of Money and CNN/Money identified a list of ten "Great American Towns   where you would want to raise your children and celebrate life's milestones."

The city, which has a population of 35,000, abounds in recreational opportunities with two 250-acre lakes, three golf courses, five public pools, four parks, numerous outdoor sports and recreation areas, a large tennis complex, a BMX bicycle track, and a 2,200-seat outdoor amphitheater.  One of the most popular aspects of life in Peachtree City is the ninety-mile network of paved trails that surround the town.  Residents use the paths for walking, bicycling, or riding their golf carts, a popular mode of transportation.
